Having started to buy a few bits and pieces to start turning my home into a smart home, I thought it might be useful to start a blog about it.
At the moment my set up is pretty basic. I’ve got myself an Amazon Echo Dot which I’ve been playing for a while now and also got myself a few Lightwave power sockets and link device to link them to my home network.
So far so good. I’ve hooked up some speakers to Alexa and can get her to switch lights and appliances on and off. It’s also really useful being able to play music and set things like alarms. I can also operate these things from my smartphone which is proving really handy.
I guess I’d like to have more of a play and see just what I can get it to do. In the future I’m hoping I’ll be able to get hold of more bits of kit into my home and gradually make my home a bit smarter. For now I’ll see what else I can get out of my set up.
In the next few posts I’ll backtrack a bit and look at the kit I’ve already bought and how it all works. Then I’ll start to see what I can really get out of it.
